First day of #Spartacusquilt at Inkwell
Today is a very exciting day in the emergent #SpartacusQuilt project- the first physical meet up of @Fibro_girl and I at Inkwell, a project in Leeds where we hope to gather together (with anyone else who hopes to join in) and sew together our Quilt.

Taking shape - Like to get involved?
Wow what a fab response Thank You,
I'm very excited by the project - please spread the word.
There are some brilliant ideas including:
A "virtual" Quilt stitched together using photographs as a collage for people who cannot make a physical square.
A gallery of photographs, writing, poems , sculpture even in fact something creative that captures the theme "alone we whisper Togethe We Shout"
So if you read it and thought I'm not creative enough to do a square please get involved it could be a video or a song with words that makes you think of this.
I'm really keen to find a way for as many people as want to take part.
Please message me when your ready and I will give you my address to send your contribution too, or give you some ideas if your a bit stuck.

Welcome to what i hope will become an ongoing creative project, talking about our lives in creative ways, that documents our fight as sick and disabled people to be recognised and accepted in a society that is being fed lies by a govenrment set on pushing back the hard won but limited rights and independence we have.
This poject is about celebrating our sense of community, strength, solidarity and humanity.
I am just one voice and alone i whisper but when i raise my voice with others we shout. As a quilter, I love finding just the right fabric to piece together a quilt. Quilting has a long tradition of community and togetherness, each person making a squre and piecing it together to produce a piece of art that has practical uses too. Piecing was done colelctively, where stories were told, news was shared and the sense of belonging was reneforced.
I hope others will join me to create a "Spartaci Quilt" But unlike traditional methods this quilt can be a tapestry of life, using words, poetry, pictures, stories, paintings, photographs, quilt pieces, knitted squres etc this can all go into a 1st vibrant piece entitled
"alone we whisper Together We Shout"
If you would like to take part please comment below, or send me a message. There is no time scale and Im hoping others will help me create it. Perhaps if enough of us come together with a square or even another idea maybe we will have enough to create a gallery to share with others and perhaps inspire them to find thier voice.

Make a square or produce a piece that could be mounted onto a piece using fabric pens, iron on trasfer etc
Each Piece needs to be a maximum of 8" squares allowing a 1" boarder (so we dont loose any design)
If your idea is bigger than 8" please feel to create or piece up to 4 squares together.
Im hopeful this idea can take shape and we can come up with more ideas. Im hopeful the finished peice could go on dispaly somewhere and maybe even get hung in the York Quilting Museum. who knows the skys the limit.
