News updates and FAQ

The number of folks getting involved is slowly growing and spreading, thank you all for telling others about it. In addition to this blog we now have a space to chat and throw ideas around in the spartacus forum

http://www.spartacusforum.org.uk/forum/index.php we are in the Community Action section called Spartaci Creatives - check us out there and come and chat and get those creative juices flowing.

We have a great hashtag now for it #Spartiquilt - thanks to Marilyn for the idea

I was asked about the types of fabric that could be used?
good question :)

the answer is try not to use anything lighter than a sheer net curtain type of fabric (we can mount it on an unbleached calico) and don't do heavier than a thin denim as my sewing machine wont cope.

Personally i would try to aim for a cotton or poly cotton, calico or linen type fabrics. if your knitting, crocheting, painting or using a photo then your square can be mounted so just concentrate on making your square.

Different fabrics with textures is find, i would avoid really stretchy fabrics unless you mount them for stability.

I hope that helps

Happy stitching come join us in the forum - and please send us a photo of anything you have created so far we would love to see your ideas
